Dwight D. Eisenhower during his initial Presidential campaign. Eisenhower, his wife, and an entourage emerge at a train station in Schenectady, N.Y. Governor Thomas Dewey was a major force in convincing Eisenhower to run, and in supporting the campaign both in New York and nationally.
