Arthur Wicks, raising right hand, being sworn in as Lieutenant Governor by a judge, 1953. Wicks was been the Majority Leader of the State Senate, and served simultaneously as Lieutenant Governor under Gov. Thomas E. Dewey. Shortly after taking this office, Dewey forced Wicks to resign both offices after his repeated visits to convicted labor leader Joseph Fay were publicized.
