Governor Hugh Carey with two skiers and the Olympic Mascot for the 1980 Winter Olympics, held at Lake Placid, New York. The mascot was a raccoon named Roni. The raccoon was choosen because its face mask was similar to the gear worn by many winter athletes, and was nicknamed Roni after the Adirondack Mountains, where Lake Placid is located.
