Men on the porch of a log cabin

Men on the porch of a log cabin
Four men wearing hats, jackets, and sweaters pose in front of a snow-dusted log cabin, perhaps in the Adirondacks. Three are standing on the right-hand side of the image. Sitting on the porch in the center of the image is the fourth man, who wears the type of stiff-brimmed felt hat usually associated with park rangers. (Although the National Park Service was not formally established until 1916, this style of hat had already been associated with park officials for many years). A sign on the cabin appears to be warning about the danger of forest fires. This image was created to record forestry and parks activities of the New York State Forest, Fish and Game Commission, Conservation Commission, or Conservation Department.
