Men seated for a meal in the mess hall at the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Barnum Camp, which was located near Pauls Smiths in the Adirondack Mountains. The CCC was founded in 1933 and thousands of young men, across the country, were assigned to plant millions of trees; build roads and trails; construct campgrounds and parks; watershed restoration; protect forests; and other projects in state forests.
