New York City Hearings – April 20, 1972 (Afternoon). Recording continues testimony of Francis Joseph Huen on the topic of amnesty. Robert McKay introduces the afternoon session. Willis summarizes Huen’s morning testimony. Commission Member Edwin Broderick examines Huen. Joseph Huen discusses amnesty, freedom of movement between the yard and cell during the uprising, and prisoner leadership. Commission Members Wilbanks, Guerrero, McKay, and Henix ask follow up questions. Huen makes a final statement and is excused. Deputy General Counsel Marc Luxemburg examines Louis R. James, a district attorney in Wyoming County, New York. He describes the duties of a district attorney, his experiences during the negotiations, and views of amnesty and prosecutions as a result of the uprising. Commission members Marshall, Henix, Guerrero, and Wilbanks ask James follow-up questions. James declines to make a final statement. Liman introduces Jose “G.I.” Paris as the next witness.
