New York City Hearing – April 19, 1972 (Afternoon). Recording of WRVR radio reporters detailing the afternoon hearings agenda. Robert McKay introduces the afternoon hearings and reiterates the content of the Commission hearings up to April 19th. Steven Rosenfeld, deputy general counsel of the Commission gives a statistical analysis of the 1280 inmates who ended up in D-yard during the period of September 9-13, 1971. McKay interrupts Rosenfeld to announce that a bomb threat has been called and the New York City Police Department Bomb Squad are searching the building. Commissioner Guerrero makes a statement about Puerto Rican inmates. McKay, Henix, Willis, and Addison each make a statement about Richard Clark’s statement to the press after the morning’s hearings. Arthur Liman examines Charles Ray Carpenter, an inmate at Attica. He testifies about his experiences working in the metal shop on September 9, 1971, inmates organizing in D-yard, prisoner demands, and other events during the uprising. Carpenter makes a final statement. Clarence Jones, editor and publisher of the Amsterdam News, begins his testimony.
