New York City Hearing – April 17, 1972 (Morning). Recording of Addison being interrupted by Mr. Henderson while discussing educational programs. Robert McKay speaks to the hearing audience members who want to make comments at the hearings. Mr. Henderson interrupts him. David Addison makes a statement about the lack of diverse representation on the Commission and continues to give testimony on the education program, library, recreational time, hygiene, quality of food, visitation, prisoner mail, censored reading material, issues Muslim inmates face, organized protests at Attica prior to September 9, 1971, and response. Addison details the inmates’ reaction to the recording Oswald created to address their grievances on September 3, 1971. Commission member Henix talks about the Commission’s standards put in place to protect inmates from reprisal. The radio hosts reads letters from prisoners.
