Robert McKay swears in Edward Young, an inmate at Attica who testifies about conditions for an older black inmate. Arthur Liman examines Young. Young discusses his sentencing, parole rules, obtaining legal advice, racial discrimination, and inmate frustrations and makes a final statement. The Commissioners ask follow-up questions. McKay swears in the next witness, Ernest Sowell, an inmate at Attica. Judge Charles Willis examines Sowell about the differences between Sing Sing and Attica, his experiences with DVR in “E” block, need for medical care to treat his epilepsy, and prison school program.
