This strip of ground has been clear and trimmed down to the soil in two parallel strips. These will act as fire breaks, preventing sparks from the nearby railway from igniting the forest. This forest is located near the town of Neustadt in the German state of Mecklenburg. Representatives from the department of conservation toured this forest in order to study forest management methods. This image was created to record the agricultural and forestry studies performed by the New York State Conservation Department.
