Several stages of forest creation are seen here. The dry, barren field in front has a few tufts of young pine, with older behind and mature trees in the background. The forest is located near the town of Grabow, in the German state of Mecklenburg. Representatives from the department of conservation toured this forest in order to study forest management methods. This image was created to record the agricultural and forestry studies performed by the New York State Conservation Department.
