A raft of lumber heads down a river in the Erzgebirge, or Ore Mountains, in Germany. It is most likely either the River Elbe of the River Zschopau. The lumber was collected from the great Walds of Germany, and is bound for a sawmill in the town of Cranzahl. Representatives from the Conservation Department visited this region of Germany to study agricultural and forestry techniques. This image was created to record the agricultural research performed by the New York State Conservation Department.
