Nelson Brown, dean of the State College of Forestry at Syracuse, State Senator Charles Hewitt of Syracuse, Conservation Department Commissioner Alexander Macdonald (1922-1930) and former Conservation Commissioner George D. Pratt (1915-1920) at the tree planting ceremony in the Hewitt State Forest near the town of Scott, NY. The forest was the first planted under the Hewitt Plan of 1929 which authorized the Conservation Department to buy land for reforestation outside of the Adirondack Forest Preserve. This image was created to record the reforestation efforts of the Conservation Department.
