A fire break has been gouged into the ground in this empty field by the Civilian Conservation Corps, camp S-125, stationed in Slaterville Springs. The gap in the vegetation will hopefully stop the spread of a grass fire. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
