This stand of Aspen (Populus grandidentata) and Birch (Genus Betula, species unknown) is being considered for forest management under the Civilian Conservation Corps. The stand will be thinned and underplanted, a process that involves planting shade tolerant verities under the existing trees some time before harvesting. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
