Truck trail, Tompkins County

Truck trail, Tompkins County
This truck trail was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, camp S-125, stationed in Slaterville Springs, N.Y. Such trails were usually constructed to provide access to reforestation areas and to aid in fire suppression efforts. While the CCC frequently worked with all hand labor, this trail was graded with a hydraulic grader. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
