This woodlot in Steuben County is undergoing a process of Forest Stand Improvement (FSI) from the Civilian Conservation Corps. FSI is a process of improving the yield of a woodlot by regular thinning. It is hungry work, and a feed tent is pitched at the center of the image. This crew belongs to CCC camp S-123, stationed in Beaver Dams, N.Y. This image was created to record the reforestation work of the Civilian Conservation Corps under the supervision of the New York State Conservation Department.
