White pine plantation, Hemlock Lake, badly weeviled
A group of men inspect White Pine (Pinus strobus) trees near Hemlock Lake. The trees show damage caused by the White Pine Weevil (Pissodes strobi). The weevil larvae eat the trees' new growth and repeated attacks can deform, stunt, or even kill a tree. This image was created to record the reforestation efforts of the New York State Conservation Department.
