White Birches on the Shores of Saranac Lake Under Planted with Evergreen in 1906
View of a stand of white (or 'paper') birch (Betula papyrifera) trees on the shore of Saranac Lake in either Santa Clara or Harrietstown, Franklin County, N.Y. in the Adirondack Mountains. 'Saranac Lake' is actually three lakes-Upper Saranac Lake, Middle Saranac Lake, and Lower Saranac Lake-but which one this stand is located on is unknown. This image may have been created to record the reforestation activities of the New York State Forest, Fish, and Game Commission.
