This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Rome. It shows both the Erie and Rome canal, Wood Creek, a basin, a dam, a guard lock, seven bridges, thirty-four buildings including saw mills and the U.S. Arsenal, the Road from Sackets Harbor and Oswego and two unidentified roads. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of George Clarke and the Heirs of Dominick Lynch.
