Erie Canal Survey, Rome showing Oswego Turnpike and Wood Creek
This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Rome. It shows the large and winding Wood Creek, an aqueduct, the remains of an old lock and dam, the location of the first earth excavated from the canal, a building and the Oswego Turnpike. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of Stephen Lush, Samuel and Jas Ferguson, the Heirs to George Clinton and Lot No. 3, 4, 96 and 97.
