It shows the City of Rochester, the Genesee River, a canal feeder and a large basin which empties into the canal, two bridges and eight buildings. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows Exchange Street, Adams Street, Alexander Street, Monroe Street, South Street and Broadway.
