This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Gates. The map is split into two views. The first view shows a guard gate, a bridge, five buildings and two unidentified roads that meet to form a âTâ and cross the canal. The second view shows the City of Rochester, a large jagged shaped basin, a bridge and four buildings. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows Smith Street, Oak Street, Bolivar Street and Jay Street.
