This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Watervliet. The map is split into two views. The first view shows the Mohawk River, Lock No. 39, 40, 41 and 42, two bridges, five buildings and the Road to West Troy. The second view shows Lock No. 42, a bridge, six buildings, the Road to West Troy and an unidentified road. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of the Cohoes Manufacturing Company and R.P. Hart and Company.
