This is an ink, wash and charcoal map of a section of the Erie Canal in Schenectady. It shows the City of Schenectady, the Mohawk River, a long basin, the Simons Kill which crosses under the canal through a culvert, a dry dock, Union College, Poor Pasture, three bridges, twenty-five buildings, Green Street, Fonda Street, Front Street and Long Lane. The red lines indicate courses and distances. The blue lines indicate canal right-of-way. The map also shows the properties of N. Barhydt, J. Vrooman, Ferrell, J.A. Fonda and J. Peek.
