View of Taughannock Falls in Ulysses, Tompkins County. The exposed bedrock is sandstone and shale dating from the Devonian Period (the span of the Earth's history from about 408 to 360 million years ago). There is an observation area opposite the falls with a woman and child on it. The date is unrecorded, but the woman's clothes suggest it is the 1920s. This image was created to record the landscape-related activities of the New York State Conservation Commission or Conservation Department.
