The "French Castle" at Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York
The "French Castle" at Fort Niagara, in Youngstown, New York. The castle is the oldest building both in the fort and in the Eastern interior of North America. It was designed to resemble a French trading house in order to calm the suspicions of the Iroquois.
