[Telegram from Abraham Lincoln to Governor Edwin D. Morgan]
Telegram from President Abraham Lincoln to Edwin D. Morgan, Governor of New York, 1862. Lincoln remarked that it was "thought safest to mark high enough". He added that the number Morgan was referring to was 300,000, the number of soldiers that Lincoln was attempting to raise for the Union Army.
