World War I military service abstract for Theodore Roosevelt, Jr., Army Officer
World War I service card of Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. Roosevelt volunteered as a Major in an infantry unit serving in France on June 13, 1917. Due to his distinguished service, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel by the time of his discharge after the war. After being wounded in action, he received several awards, including the Distinguished Service Cross, the French Croix de Guerre, and an induction into the French Legion d'Honneur.
