William C. Noble, Fire Observer Observation Tower, Black Mt. Station
View of William C. Noble, fire observer, looking through binoculars for the outbreak of any forest fires in the Adirondack Mountains. The original caption locates this photograph on the east side of Lake George at Black Mountain in Dresden, Washington County, but it appears that Noble is probably on the west side in the vicinity of North Bolton in Bolton, Warren County (the Tongue Mountains dividing Northwest Bay from the rest of Lake George are visible in the background). This image was created to record the forest fire control activities of the New York State Conservation Commission.
