Five Special Forest Fire Trucks Constructed by Forest Rangers at Saranac Inn Headquarters
View of five trucks specially designed for fighting forest fires by forest rangers in Saranac Lake, Franklin County in the Adirondack Mountains. They are marked "Conservation Department Forest Fire Service," so the date is 1926 at the earliest; at least one is also marked "Rockland County," but the reason for this is unclear. One or two state forest rangers sit in each truck. See also image 1673 for another view of this scene. This image was created to record the forest fire control activities of the New York State Conservation Department.
