Two forest fire related images that appear to have been taken from a book. The top image is of a forester demonstrating how a trench dug into mineral soil will stop a forest fire. The bottom image shows an Adirondack forest in the aftermath of a fire; "fire slash" covers the ground. The date is unrecorded, but probably ca. 1900-1920. This image was likely created to record the forestry activities of the New York State Forest, Fish and Game Commission, Conservation Commission, or Conservation Department.
