View of the outer pages of a menu for a dinner attended by various government officials featuring the first artificially propagated oysters. The back page is a mock certificate of birth for one of the oysters served at the dinner. This dinner was attended by former Conservation Commissioner George D. Pratt, and the then-current commissioner Alexander Macdonald. The location of the dinner was the Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan, and the menu is dated October 1, 1925; it is unclear to what the date of February 17, 1927 refers. See image 1625 for a view of the inner pages of this menu. See also images 1208, 1213, and 1216 for images of oyster propagation. This image was created to record the oyster-related activities of the New York State Conservation Commission.
