Side view of Middle Falls, height 110 feet, on the Genesee River between Portage, Livingston County (far side) and Genesee Falls, Wyoming County (near side), near the Gardeau Flats. An observation stand can be seen on the Wyoming County side. The bedrock is sandstone and shale dating from the Devonian Period. (Devonian Period: the span of the Earth's history from about 408 to 360 million years ago.)
