A preemption stone five miles east of Corning, Steuben County on or near the border with Chemung County. The following writing appears on it: "VAR 3 20 H EST 1[?] 79" There is a circle with a slash through it next to the 79 that appears to be a later addition, and other eroded writing is found on the stone.
