The village of Rockville Centre in the town of Hempstead, Nassau County, can be seen in the distance where the highway and railway cross a waterway. The communities surrounding the highway and railway are heavily developed with roads, businesses, churches, public buildings, parking lots, and homes. Land farther from these routes becomes heavily treed and less developed.
