View of the U.S. Navy ship S.S. General R.E. Callan at sea, possibly in waters off of Long Island. The General R.E. Callan (now called the General E.U. Arnold) was commissioned in 1944 and transported troops in the Pacific during World War II. It was named in honor of General Robert Emmet Callan (1874-1936), a West Point graduate (1894). Two other Navy ships can be seen in the distance.
