View of the base of the Battle Monument at West Point. The inscription on the column reads, "In memory of the officers and men of the Regular Army of the United States who fell in battle during the War of the Rebellion. This monument is erected by their surviving comrades. Around the base of the column are names of soldiers who died in battle.
