Otsego Lake

Otsego Lake
Site of dam on Otsego Lake made by General James Clinton's troops on an expedition against the Iroquois in 1779. Two tall evergreen trees lean over the lake. A stone in the water underneath the trees bears a plaque. Upon breaking the dam at this site, Clinton's troops floated rapidly down the swollen Susquehanna River to meet General John Sullivan's troops at Tioga.
