Gorge below Whirlpool & Foster Flats near Niagara Falls, New York.
View of Niagara River gorge below the Whirlpool and Foster Flats in winter. Deciduous trees are bare, and the bluffs are white with snow. Along the right bank of the river are the railroad tracks of the Great Gorge Route, an electric trolley line that ran through the Niagara Gorge from Niagara Falls to Lewiston. In the background across the river is a large building that has the appearance of a church, convent or monastery.
