Indian deed to Jan Christian Garlick, of a certain tract of land in the Mohacks county, on the north side of the Mohaks river, between Canidas kill and Garoga creek (see vol. 8, page 135).
Lea Stevens, here spelled Leia Steven, served as interpreter for the Maquas or Mohawk. She is believed to be the daughter of Dutch colonist Cornelis van Slyck and a Mohawk woman. Her mark is visible at lower left hand corner of the deed.
