Fiscal vs. Jan Hobbesen, for theft ; defendant persisting in denying the charge, is put to the torture, after which he confessed his guilt ; sentence, to be taken to the place where public justice is executed, and there to be whipped with rods ; immediately after which he is to remove himself beyond the limits of New Netherland, on pain, if found again in the country, to be put in chains and set to work with the company's negroes.
