Court proceedings. Fiscal vs. Clein Antonio Paulo d'Angola, Gracia d'Angola, Jan of Fort Orange, Manuel de Gerrit the giant, Anthony Portuguese, Manuel Minuit, Simon Congo, and Manuel the Great, all negroes, for killing Jan Premero, another negro ; prisoners pleaded guilty ; sentence, the prisoners to draw lots, to determine who shall suffer death ; whereupon, the lot, "by God's providence," fell on Manuel Gerrit, the giant, who was remanded for sentence.
