Petition by heirs of Samuel Palmer of Westchester, requesting that his widow (their mother) be granted a letter of administration to Palmer's estate, 1670. As Palmer had left no will, and women had few property rights under colonial English law, the estate did not automatically revert to the widow's ownership.
