A revised Constitution of New York State was proposed after a Constitutional Convention of 1867-1868. It was rejected, except for a Judiciary article, the following year. One of the proposed changes to the constitution was the repeal of property requirements for African Americans to be eligible to vote.

The question would become moot in 1870, when the 15th Amendment to the federal constitution was ratified, eliminating all property requirements for voters.
